You can double click them and they will open in the very familiar Explorer window:
You see all the important details. Additionally you get some new buttons that help you rename the disk, clear it or view the BAM. For Geos disks, a lot more details are shown:
If you are the visually oriented type, you might prefer the thumbnail’s view that shows a preview version of all images (and BTW, these thumbnails serve as icons too). If I say “all images” I mean all those that ConGo knows, and that’s a lot:
BUT there is more. You can, of course, rename files, delete files, add files, export files and you can do this by using OR drag'n drop:
What you see here is the general context menu that’s opened when you right-click on FREE space in the Explorer window. If you right-click on the file, the menu you get depends on the file’s type. It could be a picture file, for instance:
It would allow you to save the file to some PC formats or open it in ConGo. If the file is binary (runnable), you get a slightly different menu instead:
In all context menu, the “properties” entry is available (it’s in German in my screenshots because I have a german Windows but don’t worry, it will be in the language of your Windows) type. What it provides you with again depends on the filetype, for an image, it looks like this:
Note the track bar below the picture - you can zoom in and out and move the picture by grabbing it with the mouse. You already see that there’s a tab “Binary” too. It shows the hex incarnation of the file. It is the default tab for all binary files:
Binary files might be coded in Assembler or BASIC. The Extension tries to determine that and shows a disassembly or detokenized view in the second tab of any binary file:
For archives (SDA, SFX, LNX, LBR, WR3, ARC - did I forget one?) you get the content listing:
Finally, there are text files - you can select in which format they are shown:
Also useful: you can display the BAM of the D64/71/81.
So much about D64 - see “C64 File Extension” for the other half of ConGoSE’s features.
